Acording to the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation, New Jersey will be the site for all talcum powder liability cases defended by Johnson & Johnson and other talcum manufacturers.
As many as 44 product liability suits nationwide alleging talcum powder caused cancer may all likely be transferred to Judge Wolfson. She is already presiding over the Chakalos case, filed in 2014. Apparently, court authorities believe Judge Wolfson is best for the job due to her experience with Chakalos.
Defendant Johnson has expressed satisfaction with this development because its headquarters is in New Brunswick. Many plaintiffs disagree with this venue because of the distance. It is unclear whether plaintiffs may also disagree with having Jersey jurors deciding these cases. A large number of plaintiffs prefer Southern Illinois.
