Alabama’s Chief Justice Roy Moore Disagrees With Gay Marriages and is BenchSlapped by a Body Which Also Disagrees With Gay Marriages

They don’t call it the Bible Belt for nothing. Alabamans made it clear that their State disapproves of the concept of gay marriages. Just like many other States which passed laws banning this practice, Alabama had a law on its books defining marriage as between two opposite sex adults. But the U.S. Supreme Court said nonsense to such parochialism and created precedent in the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges. Chief Justice Roy Moore told his Probate Judges to, in effect, temporarily ignore Obergefell while Alabama decided how to deal with it. No way Jose,  said the the Alabama Court of the Judiciary to Moore. Although we agree with you that Obergefell should not be the law of the land, it is what it is and we, being a court of law after all, must follow the law of the land. Our hands are tied and you should know better. Therefore, SLAAAAAAAPPPPP!
