Judge Kyle Carter was born in Houston Texas in September, 1976. He graduated
from Strake Jesuit College Preparatory located in Houston in 1994. In
1998, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a government
degree and minor in philosophy. Judge Carter attended law school at South Texas
College of Law and graduated in December, 2000. Kyle was licensed to
practice law in the State of Texas on May 2, 2001. He practiced law
for with the Carter Law Firm for six years prior to becoming a judge. He also served as General
Counsel to the Texas Legislative Committee on General Investigation and Ethics
and General Counsel to the Texas Legislative Committee on Urban Affairs. Judge Carter
has had extensive experience with jury trials, bench trials, administrative hearings,
and appellate proceedings across the State of Texas.
Judge Carter's father, Eric Carter began practicing law in 1980. His mother the
Reverend Doctor Suzan Carter is a Methodist minister. Judge Carter's wife, Melanie, is a Texas C.P.A..
Judge Carter has been a member of the Texas Bar, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America,
American Bar Association, the Association of trial Lawyers of America, the Texas
Trial Lawyers Association, the Houston Bar Association. He is listed in the Who’s Who registry of International Professionals by the Who’s Who historical
society. Additionally, Judge Carter is a Freemason and member of the Shrine of North
America. Judge Carter is a life-long Houston Resident.
